AO Phoenix 28-70 T2.7

product image

As for the look, the lens produces sharp images, with little to no CA. There is some focus fall off at the edges, but it is never problematic or distracting. Bokeh has more texture than modern cinema zooms, and lens flares are gorgeous, making this lens a perfect match for many vintage primes, including Canon FD, Minolta Rokkor, Leica R, Nikon, Konica, and others. This is why we never gave up on the project…there is nothing quite like The Phénix.

The impressive range (28-70) and fast aperture (T2.7), combined with its character rich images, makes this special lens an ideal rehousing project for Ancient Optics. However, the source glass has extremely complex focus and zoom movements, making it a monumental challenge to properly rehouse. Many have tried and all have failed. Most thought it to be impossible, but finally…The Phénix Rises.
